Dinner Party

Being successful at building your MLM downline has nothing to do with the company you’re with, the products or the brand. Sure, having a poor commission plan or bad products may hold you back, but then if you’re looking at MLM you should have done your due diligence in this regard anyway!

What many people fail to realise, and perhaps more so in MLM business due to the lack of business minded people, is that it’s the person that sells, not the opportunity or the product or anything else. During my fifteen year stint as a ‘big ticket’ software salesperson, I knew this fact only too well, and so did my employers. It is why we all had massive expense accounts to wine and dine the prospects. This wasn’t about bribing the purchaser with a free lunch; lunch is the perfect environment to become acquainted with your prospective business partner and the winners in that game were always the ones the built the best rapport with the buyer. I didn’t have to sell our solution, because I knew that as long as the software ticked all the major boxes, I could win the deal by selling myself.

This isn’t something new, people! Just because our social interactions have now moved online, business has been done this way for hundreds of years, and it isn’t about to change anytime soon. The problem is that too many people involved in the MLM network marketing industry have no business experience whatsoever, and expect that putting a few ads out on Twitter will bring them riches! That’s the kind of ‘lottery’ mentality that gets you nowhere.

What I see, is people failing to using the social networking sites in a way that would benefit them most. Sure, if you want to just sell a few bottles of slimming pills or acai berry juice, then spam everyone with your adverts and you may sell something. But if you’re trying to build an MLM downline with social networking, have a think about whether you would get involved with someone on the back of a Twitter tweet? The social networking sites are your opportunity to brand yourself. They are your business dinner, or better still if you’re able to connect with people on that level, they’re your dinner party where you get to meet all the best prospects. Imagine if the first thing you said to someone at a party was a verbal ‘elevator pitch’ on your company and what you do? Social networking should form part of a complete marketing system, which should be coherent throughout and if you haven’t got one, then I suggest you go get one quick, or check out my blog for some information that’s free.

I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating again, MLM network marketing is a people business and people buy people. If you want success, and you want to attract other like-minded successful people then you should brand yourself accordingly, and let your prospects come to you rather than using the social network sites as just another medium for spamming people.
